Tokitae, also known as Lolita, passed away yesterday afternoon at the Miami Seaquarium. She was the last remaining Southern Resident killer whale in captivity. Out hearts our heavy, and we send our deepest condolences to our colleagues and the Lummi tribe who advocated for her freedom, as well as all the people eho cared for her and whose lives were touched by her. We hope her life inspires those to protect her remaining family and all the critically endnagered Southern Resident killer whales.
